Pinegro General Potting Mixes

General Purpose Potting Mixture

Pinegro General Purpose Potting Mixture is fully composted and so both safe and non-toxic to plants. It has excellent physical and chemical characteristics but is less stringently tested than Pinegro's Australian Standard mixes. Pinegro's mix is suitable for use with most plants although it is not recommended for use with phosphorous sensitive plants. The general purpose mix is a good base to which fertilisers should be added to assist your plants growth.

Budget Potting Mixture

Budget Potting Mixture is fully composted with no harmful compounds associated with uncomposted materials and is safe for use with plants. It is less stringently tested than Pinegro's Australian Standard mixes. Budget potting mix is not recommend for use with phosphorous sensitive plants. This mix requires fertilisers to be added to assist your plant's growth.

Pinegro Fertiliser Recommendations

Fertilisers applied in a balanced form provide nutrients for healthy plant growth. This is why no matter how good the potting mix is, it is still necessary to add fertilisers, as recommended, to prompt the growth of the plants.

Pinegro recommends that the gardener consults with their nurseryman for the most appropriate fertiliser to use with their plants.

Generally, the gardener can use either a soluble fertiliser or a slow-release fertiliser.

Soluble Fertilisers

Use as recommended by the manufacturer. Generally soluble fertilisers are added to water and hosed onto the plants every fortnight.

Slow-release Fertilisers

Use as recommended by the manufacturer. Generally slow-release fertilisers are mixed into or sprinkled on top of the potting mix and will last up to six months.
